Be Unspeakable

This great love that comes upon you,
that wraps you, envelops you,
melts you so tenderly
in the indescribable embrace;
That breaks you open with a soft “Oh!”
of surprised loving;
That enters you utterly
with the most exquisite gentleness
you have ever perceived;

It is not yours –
neither of your own doing,
nor of your own effort:

It is a gift from beyond,
it is grace flowing –
it is the support of light itself.

Don’t take it for granted!

There’s a tiny voice, far too loud:
“I have been searching everywhere
whilst you were here always,

I will take you when I am ready –
You are all that I long for – please stay
whilst I step aside
to continue my dream
for just a little longer:

Your touch is – unspeakably divine
but you want me far too much,
or is it I who is wanting?

Either way, I will drown myself in you,
but  first, let me forget again –
so I may behave like one who has not
been kissed by the source of G-d –
for just another day, or week,
or perhaps a life or two:

I’m not yet ready to exchange
my freedom
for the infinity of unbound loving,
My shadows still need
a little space, to play.”

Don’t listen!

When this Love comes
drop everything
and say “yes, yes, YES!”

You must be ready
to throw yourself in completely –
to give up every thing you have
in an unstoppable flow of gratitude;
Be unspeakable –
really you have nothing to give,
all you can offer is so incredibly modest
in the ultimate face of this – Love.

It is the greatest mystery
why any being,
any small, lost, suffering being
(which is all that we are)
would reject the beloved;
Would reject truth, and life itself,
for a few more stolen moments
destructively engaged with the senses.

Oh, we hurt ourselves so
much, whilst G-d weeps.

Don’t take love for granted!
When grace comes,
the time is right –
the time is now.
Let it set your heart on fire
and don’t turn back.

When you recognise how small you are
as you try to ignore G-d –
When you see how long, how patiently
your own Soul has been waiting;
When you realise how relentlessly
this love has been poured upon you –
and know how much
you have been forgiven,
You will weep oceans of tears.

Bow down to this light, this love,
this absolute tenderness – in which
you have been so completely permeated –
accept the Soul’s embrace;
From this moment,
surrender to the infinite holding,
in every breath of spirit
be moved by Grace.

Whisper into the fullness,
“Here is my heart:
Take it,  Enter,
Now”

G-d Weeps

G-d weeps
every time
you turn away from his Love
and – believing your self
to be so unspeakably
alone – set about
the Heart’s destruction
in an attempt
to still the pain.

Every being of Light
that waits so tenderly
by your wounded side,
grieves
when you doubt the Soul
for even one moment.

G-d never asked you
to find all
the broken pieces,
or to cover your open sores
with a temporary balm;
That would be far, far too much
for any child
to suffer.

All the tears of heaven
flow towards this world
with such pure Love
that the Grace of even one drop, falling
on an open Heart,
can heal a whole life time
of troubles.

There are
so many ways
to turn away –
but it hurts, always,
when you do.

Why do you run so
blindly
like a frightened child,
grasping at the world
to ease the senses?
It is not your burden
to calm this sorrow.

Quiet, now…
Enter in
to your stillness,
be it empty of words
or hope.

Come, there is one word:
Trust. Take it.
Offer your heart
to Light
Meet your truth
completely,
even when the Soul
is unseen.

Listen in that place where
Love waits
with the sweetest Embrace;
Light is waiting
to carry you
home –  in the Infinite
river
of Grace.

Be Perfectly Ashamed

The rain
that comes at dawn
is beautiful;
Don’t hold back
Run out beneath the open sky
and dance, dance!

Let your heart loose
Be wild and free.
Listen to the birds sing.
See their feathered breasts
tremble. So completely
they are giving.

You too can be naked
of every thing
that keeps you from
Being.

Stay awake all night if you
must. Let the longing pierce
you. Don’t run away, turn
to face it. Break open.

Feel the ecstasy rising.

The Friend said these troubles
were never intended
as ropes
that tie you to the world,
But as a ladder
that connects you
directly
to the purest source
of Love.

This is your truth,
that intimate connection.

Meet the darkness tenderly,
lose all hope;
Be perfectly ashamed. This
is when he Loves you most.
Let the Beloved touch you,
don’t hold back.

There is a deeper light;
It is coming, now.

Path to G-d

If you haven’t come to speak about love
then i don’t want to hear.
There is enough talk of shame,
of lost ones, fallen.
The G-d I know
never turned a soul away
who said one word: please.

I am through with courage
through with wisdom
through with strength and skill.
If there isn’t a place for everyone
I have already gone.

Forget about everything
but grace.
No flower needs to make an effort
to be beautiful.
There is a simple truth.
It isn’t learnt.

I’ve lost interest in everything
but love.
Say nothing. Don’t speak it.
Words make shadows.
Don’t even touch the path to G-d
It’s far too dangerous for lovers.
Stop.
Listen.
You don’t need to do anything
to be here.

Tell me about the Love
that is happening now.
Light is not a secret
I want to feel it inside you:
How there is no distance
between us at all.

Oh, Heart!

I woke in the night
and there were tears,
so many tears, falling:
My heart wide open, weeping
for all those
who could not take your hand.

There were thirsty men in the desert –
travelled so far, searching
for their longing to be quenched;
You came to them with water
but they did not know you
and they could not drink.

I woke in the stillness,
it was such a sweet, soft night
and I was weeping.
I saw  so many thirsty men
praying, walking, searching –
oh, Heart, what will become of them?

Laugh

“When anyone tries to tell me
that the Beloved does not exist,
I laugh –
For it is like hearing the full moon say
(absolutely radiant)
that there is no sun, or light!”

Waiting

What you have really been waiting for
is not to be invited in
to the house where the lovers
sit blissfully drinking tea;

But to see your reflection
in the cup that G-D himself
has been gently stirring
all this long,
thirsty, time.

Already That

Sometimes,
I wanted to run away,
to run so far from knowing,
leave all practice behind;
Retreat to that place
within my own being,
Where, it was always clear,
that nothing could exist but

Silence,
All-pervading,
Love.

Where there could be no conflict.

But it seemed as though
having already taken one step
too far into the beyond,
that the world in my own silent company
could offer no retreat –
For I had come to mistrust my own seeing,
blindly grasping at these endless illusions.

I was never quite sure
if I was awake, or dreaming.

It certainly appeared as though
I could never quite see
and that all that arose
was perceived through
relentless distortions.

All that changed was
the way of dreaming;
Reality seemed
out of reach.

And so I had to continue
full of doubt and fears,
giving my life to a path
which I could not trust;
Because without that path
all living was empty,
a pantomime for the senses
in which I had long since lost
interest or desire.

No other way had been offered
to follow deeper inwards and go beyond,
so I took it, blindly
stumbling all around the edges
across a thousand imaginations.

Every part that you might call me
caused nothing but trouble and pain.
Yet really, I hadn’t even begun.

I prayed to a higher seeing
a deeper loving, an essence,
the indivisible one,
(that I prayed existed)
Not to let me go astray;
Not to let me forget the heart.

I begged life, weeping daily
(with a heart on fire
that desired nothing
but to be returned,
to be fully empty)
to remove me completely;
leaving only

That which
Was
Already That.

Amber

You can call me a crazy woman all you like,
but you didn’t see the moon tonight!
(Not so that she grabbed you
right in the centre of your still silent place
and made your Love so wild
that the world stopped spinning.)

My G-d, she was so vast, so low,
she was sailing, amber,
right down close.

When I see her like that,
naked, on fire,
almost full,

I know that however you choose to judge me,
if one glance doesn’t stun you, fill your lungs,
squeeze you, stir you;
You are the one
you, not I,
Who has lost something beautiful.

Surrender Your Face

Only this space remains,
this intimate, expanded space.
Only this silence remains:

Full, warm and alive!
Full, warm and alive!

I believe we survive all destruction,
the true self cannot be destroyed.
All that can be hurt and removed
is only that which we are not:

If it feels pain, it is not you!
If it feels fear, it is not you!
Let pain come.
Let fear come.

You are beyond.
When all that comes
has passed,
you will remain
untouched.

Closer than before.

You are stronger than you think!
You are stronger than you think!

You can be completely naked,
You can be completely empty,
You can be void of all desires.

Let the world take you apart
Piece by piece, if it must,
until you are so
tender and vulnerable;
until you have become
undone.

Be tortured if you will,
until there is nothing left
of all that you think you are.

Be exposed fully:
Surrender your face
and grace will come.

Love comes.
Only love remains.

Unwrapped

The moon took me tonight,
took me with her luminous beauty
hanging there, so secret, so full
and wrapped me, a million times around.

I wish she had wrapped me
a million times more,
so that I might have drawn
closer, enough to stay;

Because the light she reflects
was always soft and true,
and she never whispers anything
that is not love.

A friend put his hand on my heart
then took it away completely,
so now when the wind blows
it blows right through me.

Everything I thought was me
hurts too much to keep,
I walk like a person
but feel all air and space.

I hoped he could touch my mind
so I would lose that too,
because all I ever ask for
is to be fully empty.

The moon has gone behind clouds
and the wind is not blowing.
I am becoming unwrapped.
I sit like a person, an old, tired person.

Tell Me

Tell me –

What do you see
when you look
at me?

Because if it is not Love,
it is not Me.

If you see that which is not love,
Tell me –
And I will cast it aside.

Then look again and tell me –
What do you see?

Because if it is not You,
It is not Me.

If you see that which is not you,
Tell me –
And I will cast it aside.

Please –
Tell me.

This Stillness

Into existence
Out of existence
We spiral
We are spinning

There are a million things
left unseen
No – more
Untold millions

We do not see
What holds us
When we hold no more

Breathing in
Life flows
Light dance

Breath out
Whispering
Falling

There are a million things
we can not know
No – more
untold millions

In the sun they say
there is a secret
This stillness

Hold you
Warm you
Love you.

Burning

There is a fire that burns in the heart

It never leaves.

Can you feel it?

Everything is turning into light
Everything is turning into love.

With every breath the fire glows brighter

It reaches out to envelop the whole of existence

Whatever we gather
One day we must let go

I Call This Love

True love can not be whispered
with even the most pleasing of words,
For the love which can be whispered
has been given name and shape ,a beginning, an end
and the love which I have known to be true
is formless.

The truth which can be spoken of
is not the real truth,
For that which is spoken is ever changing like the wind
and the ones who speak shift endlessly like desert sand;
the truth which I could promise to tell you so sweetly
may taste bitter on your own soft lips.

One may perform a thousand kind gestures
from the deepest core of the purest heart,
but even this can not be called love;
For love can not be done or undone, nor given nor received:
Love is the unbound space from which all arises
and in which all movement occurs.

If I could give love a name
I would call it truth
and I would call truth love;
For what I have discovered
is that there is no truth which could not be witnessed as love,
neither a love which could be dismissed as untrue.

You tell me that I do not know about love
and neither could I know of such things;
But just as surely as nothing can truly be shared,
the stardust singing in me is the same that dances in you;
And when all that was ever thought has been forgotten,
a certain harmony will be revealed.

There is a place from which galaxies are born,
empty of all that could be known,
We will meet there – before this so clumsily touched
and I will know you by your light;

By the absence of that which is not.

I call this love,
all being united – in naked, resplendent, perfection.
